Gary is a passionate historian and all around good human being. Inspired by his passionate AP teachers from high school on how to teach (also inspired by boring teachers in college on how not to teach) Petersen brings the lessons of history and writing to life. Gary also incorporates his work as a professional comedian to add humor and engagement to his lessons.
Petersen has worked as a city-guide for the National Park Service, a historic tour guide for the Freedom Trail Foundation, an educator at the Edward M. Kennedy Center for the U.S. Senate, and as a writing/performing teacher at Improv Boston & Boston Center for Adult Education. He holds a B.A. in Communications from Bridgewater State College and he can bench 220.
